WHALE WATCHING TOUR

We are pleased to welcome you to the world of the lndri lndri - the famous teddy bear like lemur, which is also one of the biggest lemurs on the lsland. The National Park of Andasibe home of the Indri indri; a teddy bear like lemur famous for its size and the magical morning call and the rare black and white ruffed lemurs only seen at Mantadia in a wild. In addition to this tour, cruising to the Pangalana Channel to reach the private reserve of Palmarium at the Peninsula of Ankanin'ny Nofy the best place to spot the rare night active lemur called AYE AYE. After a safari to the rainforest of Madagascar, you will relax at the beach of Sainte Marie Island. Every year from July to September, the humpback whales migrates off the northeast coasts of Madagascar to mate and give birth.

Programs

DAY 1 : ANTANANARIVO or TANA

Arrival at the international airport of Madagascar, we will meet and welcome you at the airport of Antananarivo and will transfer you to your hotel. You will be briefed on your Madagascar guide at the comfort of your hotel. Overnight at your hotel on a full board basis.

DAY 2 : TANA - ANDASIBE

We will meet you at your hotel after breakfast with your driver and an English-speaking tour guide then proceed along the RN2 to the east of Tana. We will stop at Pereyras Reptile Reserve to spot reptiles endemic of Madagascar. This is a great opportunity to get up close and personal with these amazing animals!! Lunch in Moramanga after a further 40km of driving. Arrival in Andasibe late in the afternoon. Settle in the hotel. Possibility to go at a night walk to spot the nocturnal lemurs known as the smallest of the lemurs in the world. Overnight at your hotel on a full board basis.

DAY 3 : ANDASIBE NP

Andasibe-Analamazaotra national park is surely one of the most rewarding destinations. Frogs, reptiles and birds abound. However, on top of the bill is the indri, the largest of all living lemurs. These creatures sing a haunting song (reminiscent of whale song), which carries for miles across the forest. Afternoon visit of Vakoana Reserve known as the island of lemurs where you will get close to lemurs. Overnight at your hotel on a full board basis.

DAY 4 : ANDASIBE –MANAMBATO-ANKANINNY NOFY

Transfer to Manambato where you will take a speed boat to Ankanin’ny Nofy. Enjoy a boat trip to Ankanin’ny Nofy along the Pangalane canal. Known as the ‘nest of dreams’, this peaceful and relaxing haven is home to white sand beaches. There are also forests, scattered orchids, strings of lakes and mangroves. All factors that have made the reserve to one of the most popular visits in the Pangalane canal. Overnight at your hotel on a full board basis.

DAY 5 : PALMARIUM RESERVE

Located on a peninsula of about 50 ha, on the shores of Lake Ampitabe. This is separated from the Indian Ocean by a mere line of very thin coastal dunes that sometimes are a few meters width only. It is a protected area and home to nearly 100 000 palm trees specific to Madagascar. Ten species of lemurs live in freedom in the reserve, as well as reptiles, amphibians and crocodiles. Visitors can watch Indri Indri, Sifaka, mouse and crowned lemurs and even the shy and extraordinary endangered Aye Aye. It is now possible to see aye aye during your stay at the Palmarium Hotel (Ankanin’ny Nofy). There’s a little island, 15 minutes by boat on the way to Manambato from the hotel where 6 aye aye individuals live. Overnight at your hotel on a full board basis.

DAY 6 : PALMARIUM –TAMATAVE - MAHAMBO

Transfer back to Manambato by speedy boat then by car till Mahambo. Lunch in Tamatave and then transfer to Mahambo. Overnight at your hotel on a full board basis.

DAY 7 : MAHAMBO – SAINTE MARIE

We will transfer you to the harbor of Mahambo where you will take a speed boat to Sainte Marie. You will be met by the crew of the hotel then transfer to your hotel. Overnight at your hotel on a full board basis.

DAY 8-9-10 : SAINTE MARIE ISLAND

DAY 11 : SAINTE MARIE - TANA

Depending your inland flight schedule, you will be transferred by the hotel to the airport of Nosy Be to fly to Tana. Meet and greet by your Gassitours’ crew upon arrival at the airport of Tana then transfer to your hotel. Overnight at your hotel on a full board basis.
