Ile Sainte-Marie is located off the east coast of Madagascar. The natural barrier of all bays and coves attracted pirates to the island in the 17th and 18th century. Several wrecks of pirate ships are still visible in the shallow waters of the bays. The island is currently one of the main tourist attractions of Madagascar. Again, the clear waters of the island’s bays make it an ideal place for snorkeling. You should also not miss the migration of humpback whales visible on the island during summer and early fall.
